DRW is seeking a Database Administrator to join the DBA team who will be responsible for support and maintenance of database environments including running backups, securing, monitoring, performance tuning and troubleshooting. He/She will also be responsible for providing technical assistance by responding to requests regarding test database refreshes, permissions and access to the database environment. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Ongoing support and administration of existing production and development database environments
  • Perform backups, restores, log shipping, mirroring, replication, etc.
  • Perform database performance and query tuning
  • Proactively monitor and maintain production databases
  • Work with system engineering team on database server installation, configuration and system performance tuning, and capacity planning
  • Implement database migration from one server to another, and synchronize the development/QA/UAT from production environments
  • Deploy production database changes and releases
  • Respond to production and business-critical issues and needs on 24/7 basis and rotate in an on-call schedule (1 week on, every 5th week)


Qualifications:
  • One to three years of experience as a DBA in Oracle and/or SQL Server
  • Working knowledge of data backup, recovery, and rollback planning/implementation
  • Working knowledge of database performance tuning and configuration tools in Oracle and/or SQL Server
  • Working knowledge of monitoring and troubleshooting Oracle and/or SQL Server using either native technologies or third party tools
  • Working knowledge of any Linux/Unix platforms 
  • Working knowledge of T-SQL, PL/SQL development and/or optimization
  • Experience with clustering, replication and mirroring is a plus
  • Experience working with database infrastructure of trading firms/capital markets is a plus
  • Must be able to work in an agile, fast-paced environment, and be able to prioritize multiple tasks and projects and efficiently respond to changing priorities
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to take initiative and enjoy challenges as an individual and as a team member
  • Must be able and willing to learn new database technologies (and beyond)
  • Understand and comply with SDLC, source control and change management protocols
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
